Kampung Angkat

Yet another opportunity to do community work!

The narrow road leading to the fishing village.

This time, we accepted an invitation by our medical seniors who are posted at Batu Pahat to participate in their Kampung Angkat project, whereby the general gist of it is a thorough health screening programme for the community in a specific village.

There are a few stations that the villagers will have to go through, and amongst them are blood pressure, blood glucose level, BMI, breast examination, eye test, and of course, oral health.

Oral Health Education
For the oral healthcare station, there was already a dental officer stationed to inspect the oral cavity, so what my friends and I did was to fill in the details on behalf of the villagers, and also to provide oral health education for their children.

The trip down was pretty short, but we were quite grateful for the hospitality that our seniors have shown, and also the experience gained from conducting health screening programmes such as this one. This is one of the first times our Dentistry school has participated in this project, and I don't expect this occasion to be the last of it! :)

Happy children :)

  1. They're very average, but thank you for that and also for organizing the event in general!! :) Tell me if you need any for compiling purposes!
